Candy Canes For A Cause

box of red and green candy canes with gold snowflakes
i’ve been keeping busy, just not with cards this time. i die cut gold snowflakes to dress up sixty candy canes to donate to an outpatient mental health clinic; the clients are an often overlooked population and the staff are so appreciative – they love playing santa. last year i coloured and attached snowmen, so i wanted to do something different this year.  i’m submitting this to these challenges: tuesday alchemy, anything but a card and the paper players. happy holidays and as always, thanks for popping by.

  1. You are so right, Linda. That is definitely a population that is indeed overlooked. How kind to remember them. Glad to know you’ve been busy with other things. I was beginning to worry about you. Merry Christmas.

  2. How kind of you! You touched my heart with this post!
My Mum’s brother had schizophrenia (sp?) and lived in a mental health facility. He was released several times to sheltered accommodation but always broke down again and was re-committed for aggressive behavious while he was ill.

From the time I could drive, I took my Mum to visit him and pick him up for family functions etc. After she moved 4 hours away, I was his only visitor. i took visiting him until he passed away.

I know only too well how few patients have family reconnect with them at Xmas and are all alone with no gifts at all.

You are very, very kind and demonstrating the true spirit of Christmas!

Thanks so much for taking the time to comment!
